Sardarganj Mercantile Co-operative Bank Ltd. is located in the city of Anand. The area of Anand and Kheda District is known as “Charotar Pradesh”. Anand district is in the central part of Gujarat holding the first rank in the co-operative activities in Gujarat. Various co-operative national level institutions like Amul Dairy, N.D.D.B. and IRMA is here. Vallabh Vidhyanagar called education hub is also here. A rich commercial centre called “Sardar Gunj” is also located in the centre of the city. So Anand has became an attractive point in the entire map of Gujarat and as well as India.

The merchants of Anand had established Sardargunj Market in 1958. They were facing troubles in taking loans from the Sharafi Pedhi and individual Shroffs as they were charging very high interest rates. Consequently leads to the establishment of their own Bank that can lend at affordable interest rates and deposit their savings.

As a result, the Bank was founded on 10-05-1971Bank started at Sardargunj Road, Anand on 03-09-1971 under the leadership of, Shree Manibhai Ashabhai Patel, the first Chairman of the Bank and Shree Vitthaldas Pranjivandas Gandhi, the Managing Director of our Bank. The Chairman of Gujarat State Co-operative Bank Ltd, Ahemadabad, Shree Maganbhai Ranchhodbhai Patel and the Chairman of The Kheda Dist. Central Co-operative Bank Ltd., Nadiad Shree Natubhai Revabhai Patel had inaugurated Bank on 03-09-1971. The area of operation of our Bank is Kheda and Anand District. The Reserve Bank of India has given licensed on 10-12-1987. In 1985, the Bank was shifted to its own building “Sardar Chambers“.

The Bank had started its first financial year business with the Share capital of Rs.1.69 lakh, Deposits of Rs.9.04 lakh, Cash Credit with The K.D.C.C. Bank of Rs. 7.51 lakh, Loans & Advances of Rs. 14.04 lakh and Profit of just Rs. 0.03 lakh. After crossing 43 years, the small plant has been converted into giant banyan tree. The performance has been raised year by year due to hard work of Board Members, our valuable 14986 Shareholders and our loyal 19751 customer.
